Rajasthan Thar Desert Tour
Rajasthan, which is magnificent & luxurious Maharajas palaces, its superb fortresses, its elegant “havelis”, and its proud Rajpout lords, Rajasthan is one of the most chivalrous regions. a mosaic of landscapes is waiting for you, from the mildness of the wooded and green Aravelli mountains to the intense aridity of the Thar, its dunes and small villages emerging from the desert.
It’s also an incredibly human world with its peaceful Rebaris and Bishnois shepherds wearing hugely coloured turbans, the warm welcome of the Rajputs for whom honour is more important than life, and the Gadulliya gypsies : nomadic blacksmiths or musicians….
The freedom of a private vehicle, we follow the roads, from the Taj Mahal to Jaipur, via the holy city of Pushkar. Far from the crowd of the city, we’re fascinated by the amazing landscapes and people of the countryside : sunrise on the dry desert where acacias trees seem to dance, lanes paved in stone and mud houses embellished by the statues of Ganesh which bring luck, women going to the wells, wearing their bright coloured saris, peppers drying in the sun, village festivals and turbaned musicians, and temples of mysterious gods…
You will enjoy living a life of luxury in old forts converted into hotels, but still occupied by Rajputs lords who welcome their hosts so warmly.
